OZADI ELECTED FINALIST OF ARCHDAILY BUILDING AWARDS OF THE YEAR 2015
Among more than 3,000 candidates, Ozadi Tavira Hotel has just been named finalist for the sixth edition of the Building of The Year 2015 awards , promoted by the online platform Archdaily. For each of the fourteen different categories of this important prize in the architecture universe, only five finalists were selected.
The Ozadi Tavira Hotel, whose recovery was in charge of the office of the architect Pedro Campos Costa, is part of the selected for the aforementioned Building of The Year architecture awards in the hotel sector.
Built in 1970 and renovated in 2014, the Ozadi Heart & Soul Tavira Hotel has 77 rooms and suites and two restaurants. In the process of recovery, the architect - already holder of multiple international prizes - took into account the original architecture language of the 70s of Barros da Fonseca and Paiva Lopes, reinventing architectural themes and environments.
" Our goal was to find a balance between the existing and the contemporary. The building was designed in the 70's and has characteristics that interested me to maintain and that influenced the design of the new elements. I understand buildings not as static elements but as living structures that interact with us and are part of the experience both at the level of the program and its aesthetic expression. The building seeks to find the terrain and the surroundings in a balanced and harmonious way while asserting its personality and character in an innovative space proposal. This was the decisive challenge to affirm the architectural effectiveness in the search for a new value proposition of the tourist product, " architect Pedro Campos Costa
